Tianjin University of Technology (TUT) run by Tianjin municipal government was founded in 1981 under the authority of the State Council of China’s Central Government. It now has 15,000 students and offers 38 undergraduate programs and 21 graduate programs in mechanical and electronic engineering, computer science and technology, photo electronic information and communication engineering, automation, energy and dynamic engineering, material science and engineering, biotechnology and chemical engineering, environmental and safety engineering, transport and logistics, mathematics and physics, applied economics, art, sociology, foreign languages, etc.

As one of the renowned universities in the north of China, TUT is a good choice for candidates who apply for the admission to college. Every year, it enrolls new students from all over the country, covering about 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and only those with relatively high marks in college entrance examination can be admitted


TUT also opens its door to the whole world and has established friendships and cooperative relationships with many universities abroad. Each year, there are dozens of overseas professors and experts coming here to visit or work.
Authorized by the Chinese government, TUT has admitted overseas students from about 10 countries since 1992. The TUT’s International Educational Exchange Center has become one of the best educational bases of Chinese language recommended by the Chinese government to overseas students. Each year, more than 200students from all over the world come here to learn Chinese language and culture.
The Technical College for the Deaf (TCD) of TUT is a state level technical college and jointly founded by the Disabled Association of China and Tianjin municipal government in 1991. Since then, many excellent students have graduated here. It is not only a place where the deaf people fulfill their dreams for higher education but also a place where people from home and abroad have exchanges of views on education of the disabled.

Hostel & Saftey

There are separate facilities for Boys and girls. Well appointed hostels with fully furnished, air conditioned rooms made for international students. Rooms are furnished with TV, Telephone, Refrigerator, Washing Machine, Radiators, Air condition and other amenities.
The hostels are given good protection by security agencies and police booths in the University.


All candidates who are applying for courses taught in English medium and Chinese medium should have completed their High School with 50% of Marks.
All applicants should be 18-60 years old.
Students who have Completed 12 years of formal Schooling [Excluding Kinder Garden Education ], with Subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for the Medical Program.
This is equivalent to A- Levels of Cambridge University.

Tianjin abbreviated as Jin, Jingu, Gushang, Zhigu, etc. in history and media, It is one of the 4 municipalities directly under the Central Government of the P. R. China. Tianjin is the third largest city in China only after Beijing and Shanghai.
Tianjin belongs to the 8th eastern international time zone. At the center of the Bohai Sea Economic Circle along the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, Tianjin backs onto North China, Northwest China and Northeast China and faces Northeast Asia, and it is only 120 km away from Beijing, capital of China. Thanks to such a favorable location, Tianjin enjoys great advantages and provides a channel for over a dozen provinces and cities in the north of China to communicate with foreign friends. Tianjin is also the largest port city in the north.


Tianjin is located in the warm temperate zone, Tianjin has sub-humid continental monsoon climate. The four seasons are clearly cut, which results in a great difference in temperature and a wide variety of sceneries throughout the year. The average temperature in a year tops 12.3 degree and the frost-free period lasts about 200 days. On the average, the annual precipitation is about 400 mm, 75% of which is concentrated in June, July and August. The sunshine time in the city is relatively long.

Cost of Living:

Cost of living in Tianjin is not expensive like the major cities Beijing and Shanghai. Even thou it is a third largest city in china the cost of living are average.
150 USD dollars will be sufficient for a student life for a whole month in Tianjin city which will fulfill all the needs of a student.
25 to 30 Chinese Yuan will be sufficient for a complete meal for a day
Anywhere you go around the city if you take a bus the maximum you have to spend is from 1Yuan to 3Yuan.
If you take a taxi the minimum charges will be 8 Yuan up to 2 to 3 kilometers and will increase 1Yuan per kilometer.
